Meet the artist

Lt. Sunnie is a multi-disciplinary rap artist whose voice rises from the intersections of her identity: queer, Black, big-bodied, sex-positive, and unapologetically honest. Her artistry is described by many as raw, transparent, open, and transformative—a living, breathing embodiment of healing through sound. Creating in real time, Lt. Sunnie draws directly from her lived experience and community pulse.

Her music is more than performance—it’s a sacred space where self-expression becomes survival, where storytelling meets therapy, and where rhythm becomes resistance. She is most connected to her art when it is emotionally alive—anchored in the now, rooted in truth, and charged with the spirit of real-life healing.

Verses of Power

Lt. Sunnie has felt the depth of emotion her entire life—and from a young age, she knew she was meant to raise her voice. Advocacy wasn’t a career choice; it was written in her spirit. That fire ignited the first time she spoke into a microphone, and it’s only grown stronger as she’s leaned deeper into her Blackness, queerness, and her unwavering love for community and systemic transformation.

What sets her practice apart is her commitment to living the art. She doesn’t create from a distance—she creates from presence. Her lyrics emerge from lived experience, collective grief, personal breakthroughs, and the ache of the world around her. And when the microphone is in her hand, she doesn’t just speak for herself—she shares it, amplifying truths that demand to be heard, even when they don’t directly impact her.

A Voice for Change

For Lt. Sunnie, music is more than a form of expression—it’s an archive. An oral newspaper. A cultural dispatch. Black music has always held this role in her life: preserving history, transmitting power, spreading the word. Through hip-hop, she documents what must be remembered and challenges what must be changed. Her artistry holds space for Creativity, Fierce Individuality, Healing, Amplification, Authentic Connection, and Global Transformation. Her music is her lifeline—granting her access, opening doors, lifting up her family, and forging intentional, sacred spaces for others to feel seen, heard, and whole.

Lt. Sunnie’s work doesn’t just move people. It moves culture. And in every verse, every performance, and every moment of truth-telling, she invites us to activate your joy—and rise.
